I hope it isn't true, but below is an article claiming the legendary CnC Irvine is no more. Supposedly due to noise complaints from the local hotels and apartment blocks. This is the same reason they were booted from the Crystal Cove location some years ago.

There is a Pantera main personality, John, that marshals the cars every week. Hopefully he reads this and chimes in.

Yes, I was there a couple weeks ago and they handed out flyers of it ending. 27th is to be the last event from what I understand...who knows maybe new location some day. I was told there is a major hotel right there on the main street entrance that was complaining, and understandably so at 6am when cars start coming in. I live about a mile or two away and can hear them coming in beginning that time...music to my ears.
In the late 90's I worked on the Newburyport Commuter Rail restoration project north of Boston. Through service to Newburyport had ended in the late 70's due to worn out track and a bankrupt B&M RR, but trains still ran up to Ipswich.
In MA, whenever RR ROW is proposed for abandonment, the state gets first dibs and the Mass Bay Transportation Authority bought it.
Sometime after that a woman bought a house in the north part of Ipswich, right next to the out of service tracks. When the MBTA began plans to reopen the line she raised holy hell, based on her real estate agents statement that "they'll never run trains here again".
The MBTA ultimately wound up buying her out with the intention of demolishing the house. It was declared a historic property and the MBTA had to maintain it. I'm not sure of it's status today, although the stories from the MBTA folk about her at our weekly project meetings back then were hysterical.
Irvine C&C is CLOSED.

I just verified that Irvine Cars & Coffee WILL NOT be happening on Dec 27th.

Yesterday, Dec 20th, was the last day for the C&C event.

This early closing was mostly due to the overwhelming turnout that the event experienced yesterday. There was an estimated 2,500 cars and 10,000 people. The one accident (about a block away) and the numerous burnouts didn't help.

A new location may be just a few shorts weeks away.

John
Good to hear they will keep going in another spot, I enjoyed the C&C when I got to visit. When I lived in Virginia I belonged to a shooting club. They started in 1946 IIRC and obviously people started building houses near the range. But thanks to some common sense and the high powered attorneys that belonged to the club the whiners were never able to shut them down. I assume it is still in operation, I haven't checked. But the range always made sure every house that was built near the place were fully informed of their existence prior to closing on the property!
