Journalist have nothing to do. By that standard 53 Corvettes must be a flop as they only made 300 then in 1954 they wanted to make 10,000 and only made 3640 none of them stick all 2 speed automatics and dealers were stuck with unsold inventories.
And hey Enzos only 400 made, or Fruas only 26 made or Cizzetas 8 made.
And Ford GT40s less than 100, FordGTs little over 4000 were made

Success is relative and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The cars were built, employees and suppliers were paid and manufacturers made money.
So what is a flop what is success.
