Center Console Update

Don't think I've seen an original center console that's been modified for a horizontal radio..though I'm sure one exists

I do know Wilkinson sells an after market center console with both horizontal gauges and radio which looks very nice.

The Pantera 2s had this type of radio, I think, since they used a Maserati climate control module that positioned differently. Try looking in the DeTomaso Buyers Guilde- it has quite a few interior photos. Since your console is fiberglas, it should be pretty simple to do about anything you want with placement of the components.

Actually, my console was specially fabricated by the prior owner (not Wilkenson, but yes it is a very similar setup. The one I saw at Wilkenson's shop a was a carbon fiber setup, but he may have burlwood also). Page 68 of Issue 108 of PI is a closer photo of my console, or I could email you a photo if you want. Although the prior owner placed a cassette unit there, A CD would be ideal in this horizontal position.

I stand corrected But Wilkinson does sell one and the same...and I'm pretty sure he can sell it with burlwood also.

Either way, it's a fabulous setup that really improves on the original design.
