"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"

"It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it."

Cop cars and fire trucks are always exciting to the little boy in us. We used to hang out at the local firehouse in our district. You'd always see the firemen in the police cars playing with the lights, sirens and PA. The cops would all be on the fire truck playing with their stuff! Personally I liked the firetrucks better, they had more "man gadgets" on them!
Many years ago I did a job for one of my regular clients that involved creating a full graphics package for three Police cars being given to the Kazakhstan chief of Police "for evaluation purposes". Two Crown Vics and a Suburban — all fully loaded with full Police equipment & light packages. I completed the graphics (Kazakhstan city crest and Cyrillic lettering — all reflective) and then got to drive them all across town to the shipping company. It's still one of the highlight memories of my life driving through my city in a fully-decked-out Russian Police cruiser. The looks I got were a mix of total confusion and fear, It was great!
For some reason you can't drive as fast in traffic though. Everybody else just slows to a crawl and get into the right lane. Makes you wonder if they have seen a cop somewheres and are slowing down, so you slow down too. Then you realise they are seeing you and you just hammer right on by. It has one of those speed goveners though. Won't let you go over 130 mph and you can tell it wants to, but oh no, they shut ya down just as it starts getting fun. Damn electronis.
Cool car! When I lived in Chicago I had an '87 Ford Crown Vic from the Cook County Sheriff Department. It cost me a whole $350 cash, but I did have to buy two new 15" rims, since it had donuts on one side.

One of the coolest cars I ever had. I called it "The Beast". It was huge, and indestructible. Reliable through Chicago and South Dakota winters... And as far as I know, is still in service after being donated to the Red Cross..
