CLUTCH FLUID TYPE?

WOULD ANYONE PLEASE EDUCATE ME AS TO THE EXACT TYPE OF HYDRAULIC FLUID THAT GOES INTO THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER? IS IT THE SAME AS THE BRAKE FLUID? AND IF YES; WHAT KIND? DOT- 3, 4, 5?? SILICONE? YES OR NO? THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!! MARLIN.

Generally, use the same fluid as your brake system.

Don't use silicone, as it compresses slightly. Our Clutch tolerance is too tight to accomodate the compression.

There was talk that DOT-5 fluid is not compatible with stock seals, in the long term.

That leaves DOT-3 or DOT-4.
I have not tried Castrol LMA.

Marlin, I would not recommend Castrol LMR, It didn't mix with the non-silicone fluid in my brake M/C reservoir which forced me to drain and flush the entire system. Just my own experience and opinion. Bob R. Tipo874@aol.com
