This year at Concorso, I have been promoted as the Manager of Volunteer Services. I will be in charge of most, if not all of the 300 volunteers and the jobs they do.

We are working on everything for the 2010 Concorso and putting things together.

I'm looking for some feedback from those that were there in 2009 as to the location we had for the Pantera's.

Do we want to keep the location ?

My feeling is that the Pantera spot last year was not a Main/Main location in the display. Granted, the Ferrari/Lambo people will get more respect but we should lobby for some prominence in the display field. The owners of Laguna Seca Golf are friends of mine so let me know if you want me to apply some pressure. They lease the facility out to Concorso so I am not sure that they can do anything, but it might be worth a try.

In a sense, you are correct.

But from another viewpoint, I feel we sort of stood out by being on high ground, not lined up like used cars at a Carmax lot on Auto Row.

As you walk down a sea of red Ferraris, or silly gumball colored Lambos, the cars are all the same. Same badging, same wheels, same interiors, same bodies. Guess you really don't need to get a full-on view of them as they are basically the same as the one next to them.

Displayed as we were last year allowed spectators to marvel in our variety and uniqueness, able to take in each car on its own instead of being confined to a car lot walk-through experience.

And by the way, it is our very own Jim "Coz" Cozzolino that is going to arrange the show's layout, so we can get whatever we want.

I want last year's location.

Larry

P.S. - Doesn't my 2511 look great as displayed at last year's show? All our cars had a similar full-on view positioning last year.

Not to be a dick since that would be totally out of character for me Big Grin .. our numbers don't come close to the Ferrari or Lamborghini counts that show up and the money they bring to the table in entry fee's. (400+ Ferrari's & Lamborghini's vs 30 Pantera's) This is NOT to say that what we bring to the table is not appreciated, because it is and we as a Pantera group are very much appreciated from top to bottom with Concorso. So please, no one go off on any tangent regarding this.

As a member of the Concorso staff with some pull Wink, I could get the Pantera's in the middle of the displays, and if thats what everyone wanted was to be lost in a sea of Red, then we could just blend it like the rest do..do we really want to be lost in a sea of cars that all look the same ?

As much as I appreciate the thought, no, we don't need your help on putting pressure on the owners of Laguna Seca Golf Course. We lease the space from them and it cost a fortune, and they don't have any say in how we arrange the groups and their cars, we have the final say.

Believe me, we put enough pressure on them ourselves without any more help.

My thoughts on where we were last year...

I liked where I put us last year. Many reasons why...

No matter where you were on 80% of the grounds, the Pantera's stood out on the platform because we were on a raised area. Was an easy area to get to, move around, place cars and could be seen from most of the entering points. Not to mention were not squeezed in and had plenty of room.

If you stood on the top of the fairways anywhere near the Concorso office, holes 9 & 18, were in the clubhouse or near the stage, the Pantera's stood out and were a focal point to the eye.

When I was moving around as I did all day, I could see the Pantera's from just about everywhere I was.
That's how I kept an eye on all of you Razzer

But when I looked out over the Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, all I saw was a sea of cars and the same colors, there was no real separation, no distinctive valves at all and very boring. All it looked like was an expensive car lot.

Where we were I think had show value, separated us from the pack of the same old car show layout, and made us special, as we should be Big Grin

Yes, but I like the way I said it better.

I may have something better in mind after all Big Grin

Isn't that what I said? Wink

Make it so, #1.

Larry
Just got a Concorso email announcing Tom's attendance at this year's Concorso.

So, unscrew your sun visors, get out your 1:18 Mattel models and your Pantera books and buy a fresh marker pen in the color of your choice.

Larry

If you can not attend but would like him to sign something, contact me off list and we can see what we can work out. Event is next Friday, the 13th. That is enough time for shipping from anywhere here in USA.

FOR SALE: Concorso Exhibitor Ticket/Pass

Well, the Banzai Runner will not be back together in time for Concorso. If you've been on the fence about showing your Pantera at Concorso or just procrastinated ordering your exhibitor pass because you missed the early registration deadline/pricing, then this offer is for you!

I have one exhibitor pass for an Italian vehicle for sale for ONLY $75. That's BETTER than the early bird price! And a passenger gets to ride in with you for free!

Reply now before it's gone! If I don't hear from anyone in the Pantera community today, I'll offer it on the 'brand-x' boards tomorrow.

Cheers!

If you attend the show this year, please thank Tom McDowell if you see him for making lodging arrangements for Tom Tjaarda at this year's meeting. Also David Hopps of Turin International and his organization for flying Tom to Monterey this year. They were very generous to cover Tom's expenses so that he could attend and participate.
FOR SALE: Concorso Exhibitor Ticket/Pass

I got notice in the mail this morning I have to appear for an US Immigration appointment on Friday, no chance to reschedule so now won't be able to make the Concorso event. I have the exhibitor pass for an Italian vehicle, providing entry for you, your italian car and passenger. Paid $100 and would like to get $85 with next day FedEx included.

Contact me via PM or julian_kift(at)hotmail(dot)com

If all goes well I am aiming to leave Reno midday Friday and hope to still make it to the PCNC dinner at Los Laureles....
