The Concorso Italiano , the largest and most prestigious Italian car show in the world, is held during mid-August each year in Monterey California. Its about a month away; it shall be held on Friday August 16 this year. The event is held in conjunction with the west coast "Car Week" held in Monterey every year, and it occurs the same weekend as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Laguna Seca (Mazda Raceway) Historic racing event. In fact, the Concorso Italiano is held on the Laguna Seca golf course.

I would like to invite those who have never attended the Concorso (as a spectator or exhibitor) to consider attending this year. And those of you who haven't attended in a while, why not make this year the year you come back? I am working with a friend (a fellow Pantera owner) to have a beautiful large orchid as a gift for each DeTomaso exhibitor this year. So those of you who have your DeTomaso readied and running for this year's driving season, why not plan a vacation in your DeTomaso to California's beautiful central coast, and exhibit it at the Concorso?

Pantera International runs the corral, organizes popular judging, and supplies trophies to the winners. There are other DeTomaso owners to meet and talk with. Food. Entertainment. A myriad of Italian sports cars to see. Its a wonderful day in a beautiful setting.

Lodging in Monterey is very expensive that weekend, but reasonable lodging is available a 1/2 hour to 1 hour drive away. Its always best to make arrangements as soon as possible. I would like the DeTomaso entries to make a good showing this year. I always enjoy meeting new owners, and seeing DeTomasos/Panteras I haven't seen before. If I can facilitate your attendance in any way, please contact me.

I hope to see you there!

I have a real problem as a spectator spending $150. per person to get in. I love seeing the cars but for my wife and myself to spend $300 to see the show is too much. The show at Quail Lodge has raised the price to $500 per person for the show there. The most fun part of the car week in Monterey is the Monterey Historic's at Mazda Raceway where you can see a lot of the same cars plus more cars for a lot less money!

Sorry to hear that Julian. I hope the Concorso folks resolve that for you quickly. Let me know if I can put a word in for you.

Glenn, I understand. Its a better deal to bring your car and enter as an exhibitor.

Referring to the Concorso as just a car show is like referring to the cruise ship in the pic below as a boat. Its much more than a typical car show. They have a full time year 'round staff. When one event is over they begin planning the next. Its more than parking a bunch of cars on a golf course, its a very big production.
