Some of the chrome trim around the switches is peeling off. Can this be repaired, or is it better to just get a replacement set from one of the vendors?

I've looked into this a bit.
New switches are in the $40-$50 range, plus the shipping/tax thing.
Our switches' chrome rings are riveted onto the switch housing and I'm pretty sure they have to be removed for the chrome process - perhaps not. And then put back on.
The costs for small parts like that seems to run around $15-30 each.
So, for all the hassle of removing, packing, shipping off for who knows how long --- it just seems much easier and practical to buy a new switch, get it in the mail, and then go out to the garage, swap them out and go for a DRIVE!
I used a silver/chrome Testors paint on the AC dash vent grills that gives an acceptable look for very little cost.

I had a local place replate a couple of Ferrari plastic dash parts a few years back. Took them two weeks, and charged me $20 each. I brought them home and threw them away. Not even close to acceptable, ended up buying new ones. -Steve
