I am not hip to the bodyshop vernacular, so please excuse me.

The rough body work has been done, and the fine tuning is being worked on. It should be ready for paint early next week. It will be the orange of the Porsche in the pic below.

They said three weeks last week. So that means I will have the car back in two weeks...but I know not to believe that. I am counting on three or four more weeks. But I am getting excited.

The girl in your avatar has me excited.

Robert - that car is coming along nicely! All body shops say "two weeks" in the exact same way all salvage yards tell you used engines have "40,000 miles" and all politicians say "no more taxes". It's an understood, standard, universal lie.

So, with that bit of uplifting advice...

The orange is going to be outrageous. Perfect for some Rever Clothing clad person to drive areound in. Can't wait. Keep us posted.
It's going to look outstanding!!!

It's great to see the progress they're making, and I don't doubt you're counting the days 'til she's back home.

I guess you'll be changing your avatar soon ... sounds like there may be a few folks disappointed with that prospect Cool

ps In sake of posterity, refer to the old cowboy joke posted below (or before)

Okay, Denis - I first read that and thought, "I haven't any idea why he said that, but it can't be flattering." So, just this side of emailing a tin worm to your Pantera, I read the "Old Cowboy" joke...

Hilarious! Thanks, and yes, I'm now certain that I too am a lesbian. No doubt about it.
Whats up with some body shops? (not all)

Sometimes it seems they want your money and your car, then they don't keep there word! Whats up with that? I know things come up from time to time? But it seems like sometimes they put others in front just to make more money! IMHO...Not picking on any one, just a general observation!
Skilled trades (on average, not all, but for the most part) have lost the love for their trades. For the most part they trade time for money.

Body shops bread and butter are the insurance jobs. The insurance companies use an agreed upon (OK dictated) door rate (based on equipment/salaries/ regional average). The body shop estimator estimated the hours to do a job, the insurance adjustor cuts it back then the flat rate tech need to do it in that (or less) time. The margins in that business are getting smaller and smaller every year: material costs, workmen’s comp, national standardised rates, ‘greener’ equipment and environment issues. Never the less the insurance companies pay the rent… so who comes first.

At the same time bodymen are fickle they are now used to a fast paces environment and get bored when a job lasts more than 3-4 days so the foreman rotates jobs to keep his staff happy.

There are 2 ways to handle this depending on how your relationship with the owner/manager was established. 1, visit on a regular basis or 2, ask if they can accelerate you job. Hell they want to get it out of there, unless you told them ‘no rush’. If you did we all know that was just a ploy to get a better deal cause we know you cant wait to go screaming down than interstate…… Cool
