WoW!.. I just had an estimate from a local shop to completely rebuild my D1AE 4v closed heads with all the right stuff for 1100 bucks!!.. Yikes!!.. I could just about slip into an aluminum set for that. Are you guys seeing similar prices on your original C heads?.. Seems a touch high to me?.. Merry Christmas!!...

Valves, spring, screw-in-studs, guides, valve job, labor etc. etc. etc. 550 bucks a head dont sound to bad.

Sounds pretty good to me and if you go to Al heads you are still gonna have to buy this stuff plus the cost of the bare heads at approximately $1500 per pair (well as long as you don't buy that cheap chinese knock-off Procomp stuff)

CHI heads are the preferred brand these days. www.chiheads.com I have a set of the 4V just arrived from Australia.

I knew you were going to ask.... My car is having a little rust repair done and is currently unavailable and of course in looking thru my files I can't lay my hands on the paperwork either. I am 90% sure these are the heads along with the intake: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/heads/ford_sb_clev.shtml
My car is strictly a street car (no racing) with moderate hp and lots of torque.. I absolutely love the way it turned out. Very depenble, easy to use as a daily driver, LOTS of fun to drive on the street. The torque lets the car appear to have more motor in it than it really has.

A lot depends on what you are looking for:
- an all original car
- big HP motor ( good for the track and bragging rights)
- street car easy to drive every day.
all are great choices and as with every choice each has tradeoff's....

Ed..
