Warning, no DeTomaso content, but I think you'll find it interesting anyway...

Does the North produce supercars or even hypercars? You've probably heard of Swedish Koenigsegg, but did you know that Denmark produces an 1100 HP hypercar? That's the only car we produce, so our average HP in our car production is world best Smiler

Today my Ferrari friend (yes I admit it, I have a friend that has a Ferrari, don't we all) invited me to join the Ferrari club on a visit to rural (very rural) Denmark to see the Zenvo factory. I wanted to go for a long time, but they don't just have people in from the street.

I talked to a local that came out to see the Ferraris, he also said that it had been interesting whenever Saudi princes had visited, I can imagine...

Then they talked for 90 minutes, very very interesting. This is not a kit car or a hot rod, this is a well sorted hypercar. They build the engine inhouse with a US block from a race block foundry, all engine parts fabricated in Denmark. All carbon fiber made in house. Design in and out made in house. Electronics designed in house. Etc. Wheels designed in house, fabricated in Italy.
They also very honestly told us where they, being so small, have to cut corners. The mirrors are from another car, the 5 parts in each, and then the mirror image (sorry) other 5 parts, to produce them including getting them approved for the road afterwards, that's a €100k expense. But all the things that matter, performance wise, it's their own

The founder Troels is the unassuming gentleman in white t-shirt second from the left. The company started when he built an 1100 HP engine, and then a chassis to put it in etc

Another unique experience was the sound. He was asked to start it, wasn't keen on it, said it was too noisy for work protection regulations. Yeah right. He started it and it sounded like any other flat plane crank of a very powerful engine. He let it warm a bit, and then he revved it! Wauw! I never heard anything like it outside of Le Mans, my ears hurt for 30 minutes! Never in my entire life, have I heard anything like it!

This video of course can't do justice to the sound. But you can see the reaction of the others. My ears hurt, and I was not standing behind it...

Anybody that has a collection of hypercars and wants a unique one, consider the Zenvo. They claim it's the fastest car in the world 0-300 kph, partly because it's not geared for top speed above 400 kph. And it's Danish!

Kjeld not sure what you're referring to, Russian and American sportscar? There's a myth that the first engine was based on a Corvette LSx something engine. It wasn't. And Troels told us he's still kicking himself for making his engine 7.0 liters, because that's what the Corvette had, and that's part of why people think it's GM based. Whether he cut up anything for inspiration, I'm sure all car manufacturers are inspired.
He changed his engine to 6.8 liter in a hope to kill the myth, apparently not. BTW, back then it was cross plane crank, now it's a flat plane crank.
