Vulcan tires has a Dean Brand tire, manufactured by Cooper on there website. Vulcan Tire They list 225/50-15, and the 295/50-15 both are either "S" or "T" rated. Any input would be welcomed. Jeff
And why would you want an "S" or "T" rated tire when you could have an "H" rated tire? I'm running Toyo Proxes tires and they're great, especially compared to the BFG Euro TA's and Comp TA's that were on my car when I bought it.
My tires: Front --> Toyo Proxes 4 -- 225/50VR15 - $71 each Rears --> Toyo Proxes ST - 295/50HR15 - $107 each
One more thing... The Toyos have a modern aggressive tread pattern, but it's slightly different between the Proxes 4 and Proxes ST. Only one person so far has noticed that they're different on my car.
Toyo does have another V-rated tire suitable for the front with a tread pattern that's a closer match, however I chose the Proxes 4 because the treadblocks at the top of the sidewall are identical to the Proxes ST, so it looks like the same tire from the profile. The other tire with the closer tread pattern has a completely different design/pattern for the treadblocks at the sidewall.
I'm looking to replace my Pirellis due to age and poor tread and I'm interested in the Toyos (for obvious reasons). From your picture it appears that the sidewall of the rear tires go in to meet the wheel. I can't tell if its because the 295 tires are significantly wider than the 285s. I have 10" Campis with 285s on the rear and like the profile. Do you also have 10" Campis in the rear? Do you have any pictures showing the profile?
Sorry it took me so long to reply. I forgot about this thread. I have 8" Campys on the back of my car, and the tires are 295/50-15's. They do have some inward curvature, but not nearly as much "bulge" as the 305/50-15 BFG Euro TA's had.
Ordered tires today, should be here tomorrow. If they get in I already have 1717 on the jack stands with the oldies in the back of my Suburban waiting to get reshoed. Pics to follow! Jeff
