Penny pinching? I've had my car two weeks and I've already spent $2k on upgrades (which I've installed myself). About another $20k to go...

And if you keep up the attitude you've shown us so far, I predict all the rest of your upgrades will likewise be done all by yourself. For many years to come.

If you would have bothered to study this forum and the De Tomaso Family just a bit before jumping in like you have, you would have figured out we are all friends here, with different ideas on how to build our cars, how to pay for them, how to use them. Some have more money in their garages than others have in their homes. For some, the Pantera is just one in their stable, for others like me, it is the ulitmate fulfillment of a thirty year old dream; never to be sold or replaced with anything else.

BUT what we all have in common is a love for a thirty-five year old, rust prone Italian Hot Rod known as a Pantera. The most beautiful, perfect little half breed of an exotic mid-engined true GT sports car to have ever come down a road.

Many Panteras are owned by the 'Lone Wolf' type of guy - perhaps this is you? Not into clubs or shows, turning all the wrenches by himself and living in his own little Pantera cocoon. They are missing out on the best part of Pantera ownership - the Family.

Danny, you haven't hesitated to ask us for advice - which we have given, by the way - yet you haven't returned much about yourself or your car - except to slam other's views, cop an attitude and maintain an illogical desire for excessive anonymity.

In short, you haven't behaved as a new friend of the Family, yet you sure do think we are the ones to come to when seeking advice.

You only get one chance at a first impression. Unless you quickly figure things out about this Forum and the De Tomaso Family, the impression you've presented so far won't serve you very well at all.

Are you obsessed with me? This is your second post about me. Is this an automobile enthusiast forum or an AOL chat room? And how the "F" am I supposed to contribute back to the forum if I've only owned my Pantera for a total of two weeks? You want Porsche, Corvette or T/A advice? Ask away...

As to my anonimity, I'll tell you the story some day of the guy on the Corvette forum who posted his real name, what type of alarm system he had in his car, the fact he parked the car in his driveway, and a photo of his house, complete with address, his work location & hours. Guess what? Bye-bye Corvette. His insurance company paid book value. He was out the thousands $$$ in mods. Had the car for a total of six months. Therefore, I ain't revealing squat on the Internet, especially with the collection I have.

I attend & participate in shows every weekend, including two this weekend. This is "season" around these parts and my entire weekends are spent either prepping for a show, or participating in a show.

I guess Fresno is still as boring as I remember it...Get a freakin' life.

Confused

Amen!
Whoa. I just read the "changes ahead" post and am a little offended.

I love this one:

<< Paying someone to work on your "enthusiast" car is like paying someone to sleep with your wife. If you can't do it yourself, you shouldn't own the marque. Perhaps a nice [completed) Cobra kit car would be more fitting. >>

As someone who owned his Panteras for 25+ years, and tore them and his hands apart countless times, learning a great deal along the way, I can readily admit that just like I hire experts to fix my teeth, my roof and my taxes, I feel really good about writing a cheque for work on many Pantera things I know very little about.

I guess it's for the security I enjoy when going flat out. And while I always wish I just stayed home and did it all myself, I would have missed years of enjoying the car on the road - as I did in the early years. And instead of slugging away in my garage I can put MY expertise to better use putting food on the table for my family, my employees and their families. It also earns the income to pay the experts instead of assuming I can do anything and putting my revenue stream on hold while I became a certified Pantera expert.

I liked this one too:

<< I'll tell you the story some day of the guy on the Corvette forum who posted his real name, what type of alarm system he had in his car, the fact he parked the car in his driveway, and a photo of his house, complete with address, his work location & hours.>>

We have no interest in your alarm system code or your address, Danny, most of us on this board usually indicate what state and town we live in. It helps when we feel like taking a ride together or lending a hand. And I doubt if any of us has had our identities or cars stolen as a result.

Oh yeah, and though writing cheques, to learn from others who have much more experience on Panteras than I do, has no effect on the love affair I enjoy with my GT5 - when it comes to sleeping with my wife, I feel completely qualified and have no need for outside expertise.

Wow...I didn't realize criminals/car thieves do not visit the Internet! Thanks, I feel much safer now!

Damned! I'm here trying to steal your car and you've really fooled me with your false identity. Hmmmm, as a pro car thief I should really come up with another plan..
Danny, you must be a real joy to be around in person.

Ted Nugent.
Danny ... man ease up ... one thing we can be sure about on this site is ...there are guys here that know more ... I find all are every respectable and hold a very respectable place. Meaning dont under estimate the knowledge here. Ask any question and guaranteed you will get a solution ... some will be impossible because some have access to equipment and tools not many have in their garage .. other solutions can only be purchased and others choose to purchase the solution.

While this dosent make any difference here ... no one has been judgemental in my experience.

Me I can care less where you live .. contribute some thing positive and we will keep this little place on the net a place we all look foward to ...

my 2 cents.
WTF ?

Lets see, I've been a been a member of PI & POCA now for 8 years. Everybody knows I live in Peoria Arizona, real name, phone number, address, my car & personal life have been in magazines and newspapers many times. (and some not so flattering) Many PI & POCA members have been to my house.

Yet no one has ever tried to steal my very rare factory GT5 that I have major money into and have turned 90% of the wrenches on myself in the last 7 years.

Does this mean there's still hope that someone will try and steal my wife ?
I'm confused as to why this thread is still going on. If people prefer to be anonymous, for whatever reason, I think that's fine. I prefer to remain a little vague until I get the feel of what is going on.
By continuing threads like this the only thing that happens is a continuation of ill will. I am sure no one wants that.
Could we stop for awhile?

And Coz, I guess it begs the question, is she hot? Razzer
LOL.....
Does she have a job ?
Would she be willing to get a part time job in addition to her full time job ?
Will she let me use her income to build another Pantera ? (Yes, I'm already looking)
If yes to all 3 of these questions, where can I pick her up ?
LOL....

But yea, she's not bad for 44 and having 4 children. She's my baby & the love of my life.
Hell, nobody else would have put up with me for the last 27 years....
