The decklid shocks I got from one of vendors (PIM) seem to be way too strong. Does anyone know of a vendor who sells shocks that work and won'y try to distort the decklid?
The decklid shocks that PIM sells come in two strengths. One set is for cars with wings that require more ooomph and the other is for stock type lids. You may have received the husky set. Simply return the shocks for an exchange for the correct ones. If you still have a question, call 714-744-1398. They will make it right.
Rudy, Admin is correct in what they have told you. However, I bought some non-wing struts from Hall and when I got them I thought they were way too strong. I did put them on the car and because of the geometry involved in the trunk lid they turned out perfect. Be a little carefull in closing the trunk and check for possible bending, but I bet they are okay! Larry
Make sure you mount them with the shaft down and cylinder body up. The ones that I bought from Pantera Performance Center have cushions at the end of the stroke. The cushions only work when the Struts are mounted with the shaft down. Also Shaft down will keep dirt from collecting on the end of the cylinder. Dragging dirt through the seal will shorten the life of the struts.
