How shall I say this? It is rumored that there have been (past tense) scams going on where by cars were being transfered to... someone with a famous, recognizable name and then being transfered back, without their knowledge since there was a business manager involved. Now former business managers.
The purpose being that the said vehicle could legally be claimed to have been owned by...a certain individual and therefore have instant value added.
Like Madoff, the depth of the scam is not documented. Who knows what will turn up next and what it will be?
Someone just had a 65 Ranchero for sale in LA that was claiming it was one of three SA built Rancheros. He claimed it to have been built by SA in '65 at the LAX location but had no explanation of why it had '69 Shelby medallions on it...from the factory...in '65.
Of course it really was 1 of zero but who's counting?
Best rule is...buyer beware.
