It amazes me how people who preach the "End of the World" & "Doomsday" actually get publicity and how much media coverage is given to this dribble. I'm sure over the eons hundreds have claimed this fallacy & obviously ALL have been wrong.
Should the media just ignore these crackpots or is the daily news really so mundane that we have to fill our lives with fanciful speculation?
I'd have to agree, I think it says a lot about these media outlets who give these crackpots their 15 minutes of fame for the sake of a news story. Oh and when I refer to crackpots, I mean the reporters and the people they are reporting on. Nothing will ever stop people from brainwashing the gullible among us, but giving them their day in the spotlight just feeds them. Otherwise they were nothing to the rest of us.
Stastistics tells us that one of these days one of these quacks will be correct. Excuse me while I go buy my lottery ticket. With my winnings I will buy all the Panteras in the world and drive up the prices like Howard Hunt did with silver.
No it won't happen. And you won't win on that lottery ticket. In Denmark, gambling, where the return is less than 1 (it always is) and skills are not a factor (unlike in poker), is called a "stupidity tax".
It was the end of the world. Maybe for Lance Armstrong, for Mikael and his dropped valve, for my grandaughter who fell off her tricycle and skinned her knee. And there must have been others.
