I am at the point of dis-assembling the doors. I have searched both this site and Mike's and have found a lot of usefull information. However, I am still unclear on a couple of things.

Are the window frames permanently attached to the door? Can the stainless trim be removed? Should it?

How do I remove the glass from both the front quarter window and the door? I see how it detaches, but how is it actually removed?

Thanks for the help. Making progress.

Joe,
Here is my experience when I stripped mine.
1. The trim on the door, around the window is a real test of patience, it is removed like a bottle top. It is crimped around the frame and is easily damaged.
2. The door trim at the top of the door body where the window begins is screwed on from the inside with tiny screws. you must remove the front quarter glass (and the main window glass)to get to the front screw.
3. The quarter glass frame, and front window channel are held by a hidden (under the rubber) screw on top of the door and at the bottom of the quarter window. Juct look closely and you'll find them.
4. The 'whiskers' are also held with tiny screws.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help Smiler. I got the passenger door stripped and gutted. The trim was tricky. I found that using a painter's spatula with some light machine oil helped. I got it started with a screwdriver and worked my way down tapping gently with a hammer. It popped right off. Some of the screws, however, were toast. I wound drilling out two and using a chisel and a hammer on two more. Oh, well.

Tomorrow, I will tackle the driver's door. Thanks again.
joe, be very careful when replacing those tiny screws, they are a pain in the a$$ because they are hard to get replacement ones that are small enough. If you find ones that are "close" they can still damage the outside of the trim if they are too long. I had to have one of my trims repaired because the screw pierced the trim even though it looked to be the same size as an original
