I'm in the process of putting new carpets in my car and along with that I need to change the door seal pinchweld molding as it's been damaged and torn over the years by prior owners.

The pinchweld on my car has an inverted 'U' shaped section which is covered in a woven cloth finish and then the tubing section that the door compresses on is moulded together with the woven U shaped part. Seems to be about 1/2" internal length to slip over the car seam and the actual tube apears to be about 18mm external diameter.

I've searched from one end of the country to the other today and can find nothing with the woven cloth finish. A mate's Ferrari has a flocked felt type finish which looks superb, but apparently this is only available as a finished and cut length to suit his car directly from Ferrari, who demand a second mortgage on your house for it!

There is a local product which is a plastic covered section embossed with a pattern which many local early 70's car's here used including local Ford sedans. The tubing part is okay and seems to fill the gap properly when the door is closed but the plastic embossed look is a bit to 'cheap' compared to the woven fabric style that came off the car.

Problem is I don't know what the car came with? Did somebody redo it 20 years ago with a local USA based product, or is the woven fabric genuine to DeTomaso in 1974?

What have you guys used on your car, and is my woven style original?
