Hey Paul, Congratulations on the purchase! Looks like we're almost neighbors...let me know if you need any help...there are a lot of resources available to our brethren in SoCal...I might be able to point you in the right direction if you get stuck on something. You'll also find some amazing local owners who are ready and willing to help out on hard to find tools and advise. Post some pictures when you get the car home.
Hi guys, the custom enclosed car trailer I had hoped to use this Saturday has fallen through. I have reserved a car trailer (the four wheel type that the whole car goes on not just the front two wheels type of course) with U-Haul. I have been told it might be a tight squeeze width-wise between the wheel wells of the trailer. Do you know the exact width of a '73 narrow body with no alterations? I want to call the U-Haul location and have someone measure the distance between the wheel wells before I get all the way down there and have it not work. I've also been advised to bring lots of extra heavy duty tie-downs to keep it from moving around over bumps or during emergency braking situations. Your help please?
So on a lot of the rental trailers they have straps that fold over the front tires and you cinch them down on a ratchet that is welded to the front of the trailer on each side where the tire stop is. You can see the netting on the front tire in that picture. There is a chain located on the middle of the trailer that you attach as a safety. It's not going anywhere unless you plan on going offroading with your towrig Smiler Budget truck rental has the same exact trailers with the front wheel straps, as do the two wheel car towing dollys that uhaul has. Seems I've used every type at some point or another. Yeah not surprised on the Penske trailer, forgot about that. But try Budget as well, I used one of their trailers behind a Penske truck before Smiler I pulled that when I lived in Valencia, pretty close to you, but maybe the budget franchisee wanted the rental bad enough to move the trailer since it was one-way Smiler
Paul,

While I don't have the dimensions, you won't likely have a problem. I've transported my Mangusta, my GT40 and have seen several of my friends Pantertas on U-Haul trailers. The big issue would be if it was a wide body (should still fit) or if it has a deep front air dam. My GT40 wants to scrub the front flats on the trailer (that prevent roll-off), but they shouldn't be in the way on a stock narrow car.

You might want to bring some 2x8 planks about 2-3 feet long to raise the ramps if needed (depends on how low the car sits) to avoid scraping when loading.

Congratulations and we all look forward to the details.

Mark
