A large quantity of the seats you refer to had been manufactured as DeTomaso had planned on installing them in the Pantera. They were later employed as the shells for the racing seats installed in the group 3 and group 4 race cars, minus the foam blocks of course.

The remainder of those unused seat frames sat in a stack at the factory for years collecting dust. I have no idea what has become of them. If you were interested in acquiring the real thing rather than a reproduction, a phone call to Steve Wilkinson may be worth your while.

cowboy,

ive visited the factory about 10years ago and forgot to inquire about them. do you have any contacts over there to try to track these shells down? i would love to a have pair. ive seen a few GR4 pics with these seat shells in them but with vinyl covering. those seat look impossible to get in and out of gracefully... perfect for the hardcore track guy!!!

i'll dig through my home computer to see if i can get you the info of these replica seats. with our poor exhange rate the replica's are $$$$$
they are made in japan but out of fiberglass and are probably much safer than the alloy. however, im more interested in the real shells. anybody out there have leads to find a pair?
