I believe I'm correct in saying this was Bev Hall's Pantera that Gary did for her, his favorite color was purple and I guess hers was pink.

It was for sale at PIM for some time maybe 3-4 years back and I think the price almost down to the point where it would have paid to buy and repaint. It's an all steel flare with a lot of Hall upgrades, albeit many of them a bit dated now.

I don't think this is Bev's car, unless someone modified the original Bev's car quite a lot. On page 60 of Hall's parts catalogue Gary Hall shows Bev Hall Pink Panther as a GT5, with hood vents, wing, front air dam, brown interior, no custom rear body/decklid modification, etc.

This ebay pink Group 4 was at the Monterey show in 2002. Below is the add from PI for this ebay pink Group4:

That car isn't Bev's. I saw her car a few weeks ago in the Hall collection and there are, as Jan notes, many differences.

I too have looked at this one as a re-paint special, but without knowing the reserve it's hard to say if it would be a "deal". The wheel offset and/or ride height looks a bit wrong, as does the rear flip tail. At the right price I would be interested (who can have too many projects?) but I wouldn't touch it at $62K.

I forgot to clarify, the $62K was when it was on PI for sale back in Sept 2004. Since the ebay add donesn't have engine bay shots, below is one from the PI add back in 2004...looks basic, nothing exciting. If the engine bay still needs some work to get it respectible, coupled with a new paint job if you want to change the color, I would peg the value at around $30K best as is (considering ballpark $20K for a nice bare metal paint job and at least $15K for the engine bay and engine dress up). However, if you love pink and like the car as is without changing anything, then $50K is about what I would pay. It all depends on if you like it as is, and if not, then additional cost for you depends on what quality you want. So it's a hard sell if his reserve is high, unless you love it as is and always wanted a pink car. Good things about the car is steel flares and nice interior, but other than that, that is about all I see. When it was on ebay a few weeks ago, reserve was not met at close to $39K...must not have been many pink preference Pantera owners around.

Here's your fishiness:

e***o( 46) Cancelled: US $41,888.00
Explanation: Bidder contacted me and asked to retract bids. Bid: Jun-03-09 17:25:19 PDT
Cancelled: Jun-04-09 10:00:10 PDT

j***a( 30) Retracted: US $43,000.00
Explanation: Entered wrong amount Bid: Jun-01-09 22:59:52 PDT
Retracted: Jun-03-09 21:00:14 PDT

Apparently, someone entered the wrong bid (yeah, right) and drove up the bidding for the second guy, who upon retraction negated the second placer's bid, triggering a response from ebay to either retract or rebid.

THE BIDDER claims another bidder asked him to retract, which is probably out of bounds.

Anyway, the car landed in a price zone about right for having it repainted in a color that at least hints at masculinity.

Perhaps I should create a database search specifically for pink cars?

O.K., the car is back on eBay for a second round of bidding. I do like the grey color chosen for the bottom of the car and the tasteful pinstriping color choices.

Nonetheless, the car is still pink, and that is hurtful to my eyes anyway.

However, this ensemble works on an entirely different level.
