Don,

How much clearance is there between the top of the carburetors choke horn & the lid of the air filter? Do you have room to drop the air filter the amount needed to get the engine screen on? If so, a dropped air filter base from a big block Corvette, plus the right height of air filter element, should allow you to drop that air filter lid.

Keep in mind that there are owners who have found ways to keep the engine screen on with Edelbrock Torker intakes installed, that's a fairly tall intake.

The Edelbrock/Carter carburetor may be less tall than the Holley. You could also have the carb mounting pad of the intake milled down a bit.

Another alternative is the "dog bone" style air filter assembly, that assembly sits about as low as you can go.

There are carburetors that have the choke horn milled off, like the Holley HP series. The lack of a choke horn gives you more room to drop the air filter assembly. The drawback to that solution is cold starting the motor is a bit more of a chore.

Yet another alternative, Kirk Evans at one time manufactured a round "pop up" cover that could be added to the engine screen, this still requires cutting a hole in the engine screen. So the tip there is to locate another engine screen on ebay, or here in the parts wanted section.

As a last idea, a lot of owners run without the engine screen installed, they install an ovel air filter & turn it sideways, this way the air filter fills the opening left by the missing engine screen.

Those are the more common solutions I can think of.

I have a Moroso 13 x 3 air filter that where the base of the filter is an inch or so below top of the carb.
I was running a Holler 700 (4778-2) on a Torker and the engine screen just touched the airfilter. A small piece of rubber between the two stopped any buzzing noises.

With a Performer this airfilter is too low and presses on the distributor.

Sorry I don't have any part numbers.
