I like the idea. I have been thinking about installing a reverse camera that is viewable as a rear view mirror. Rear visibility is pretty bad in my car. The air cleaner pops up from the bottom, and the wing obscures much of the rest.

I saw another rearview mirror yesterday(Ididnt write down the web address) the mirror has the backup camera screen on the left side of the mirror, but the cool thing about this one is that when you take the car out of reverse the screen reverts back to a mirror. Will get back with the web address.

I think that we are sort of in an infancy as far as this type of thinking of what can be built electronically into the rear view mirror.

The screen for the backup camera has been in the rear view mirror for a few years as an obscure accessory.

As far as putting the radar detector in there too, great. Love it.

I'm gonna wait for the "communication device" to be built into it as well so that Scotty can contact me directly before I switch into warp drive.

I just love the entire concept but I think it will come in cheaper and better.

Don't forget the auto dimming feature, the compass, the temperature and the auto dimming opera lights.

Few. That's a load to put in there. I mentioned the GPS right? What about direct TV?

It's no wonder that the thing is 14" wide. Big Grin
I was looking as such a system for a different car. I found the following company:http://www.rostra.com/RearSight-Universal.asp

Happens they are an OEM option for Toyota, providing some level of support/trust.

I will be ordering one for my FJ Crusier. If it works well, I will order a second for the Pantra. There tech support is helpful, but will require some Q&A to get the right mirror for a Pantera.

What I do not like about the "all in one" model is that if something breaks or becomes obsolete you have a large hunk of junk.
