...I saw that on the Morning News Today! I knew someone would post it on this Forum; Good Job Guys!! The Scene Broke My Heart!!

One of the Reporters had made a statement, "He Hoped 'They' had Insurance".
I Don't know about Japan, But Here; if You are involved in a 'Speed Contest', Your Insurance is Voided!!
I Don't know that they WERE in a Contest, Or Not! What I CAN tell from the Evidence is; For the 'Carnage' to SPREAD OUT for that Distance, they Were Traveling at a High Rate of Speed, Certainly Over the Limit! For the Drivers of the Following Cars to be Unable to React in Time to Prevent becoming Involved, They Were All, Following Too Close for the Speed they were Traveling!

I don't know about Your Insurance Company, But I have been with 'State Farm' for over 20 Years, and everytime I have been hit by Another Driver, it was Automatically 'My Fault'! In this Town Most of us are with the Same Agent, 'they' Just 'Play' one Driver Against the Other! They Never loose! But why does 'It' always have to be ON ME? I've tried other companys, They wont have Me, and I have No Points, No DUI's! State Farm Even Screwed My Son Over, when He was Side-Swiped, on the Freeway, by a Semi Changing Lanes! That was a 'Hit and Run'!
"Like a BAD Neighbor...State Farm Is NEVER There!!"

Back to the Crash!
...Ofcourse, If those Drivers would have been 'Pantera Drivers', Driving Panteras, there never would have been a Crash!!LOL
I just Believe 'You' Guys (and Gals) have More Respect for Our Cats and for the Speed they Can Attain! As well as Having a Much Higher Level of Skill for Driving!! That's just My Opinion! And I have said in the past; "All the Money in the World Can't Buy a Better Driver!!" I would add, Nor can it Buy BRAINS!!

...I found another report that stated the Police estimated the cars had to be traveling at a Speed of at least 80-100 MPH. The lead car was passing a 'Prius' when it hit the Meridian and lost control; The following cars hit each other, trying to avoid the First...

This is the problem. A Prius on the highway. Highway efficiency is better in a traditional power train designed for high mileage.
"This is the problem. A Prius on the highway. Highway efficiency is better in a traditional power train designed for high mileage."

What??? My Prius does just fine on the highway. From the DeTomaso BB: This reminds me of the prophetic quote by a ex-Ferrari employee uttered before the subsequent spectacular crash of a top of the line Ferrari at an Australian Road Rally in the nineties that was fatal to not just the Japanese driver and navigator, but also to the rally check point workers who also died.

"Ferrari owners are *not* Ferrari drivers."
I was kidding about the prius on the highway being a problem.
I was not kidding about the most efficient way to travel on a highway. From a thermodynamics/physics standpoint if you want to achieve maximum highway mileage your better off without heavy batteries, and hardware associated with a hybrid. In motor trend they drove across the country with a Prius, a Honda insight, and a 1998 Geo Metro. The metro had the best gas mileage.
