Here's the reply from Social Strata

quote:

Eve community does not have a mobile optimized interface, so depending on what kind of custom headers/footers/flash you have on your site, it may cause issues in some mobile browsers. We aren't aware of any general issues with using Eve in mobile browsers, so it may be an issue specific to your site.

So Anders, try logging-on with the forums "summary page" instead of the "home page"

summary page: http://pantera.infopop.cc/eve/forums

This avoids the slide show on the home page. I suspect the slide show may be the problem.

More and more people are accessing the internet via their cell phones and other mobile devices, and fewer people are using "Personal Computers". It would be possible for me to migrate our forums to Social Strata's latest community platform, Hoop.la, which has a mobile web-optimized interface. This of course would require a financial investment on my part.

So my questions are ... (1) how many members are having trouble accessing the forums with their mobile devices? And (2) how many members are for or against migrating the forums to the new platform?

George, I can view the site just fine on my IPhone. I generally don't use the IPhone for the forums because the screen is too small and it frustrates me. Soon I will be purchasing an IPad and it should work fine for that too. Bottom line leave it alone and save your money.

BTW: I wonder if it might be worth instituting a subscribed member status where the member pays a small yearly fee and is allowed to list parts and cars for sale. Otherwise for no fee one can simply participate in the forum but no sale of items. Just an idea to help you fund this site a little better. The fee could be as small as $10 per year for example.
