Fuel Pickup/Sender Needed Desperately

Adam,

what is the difference between the early and late model sender? I have an early one.

The one difference I know of is that the early cars had a seperate pipe for the fuel pickup. The sender was just the sender. Later cars had the pickup and sender in one assembly.

From what I was told, on the '71 and early 72 models, one part was in the gas tank (the sender I think ) and one part was outside the tank. When the sender in the tank failed, there is nothing you can do.

But, in the later cars the pickup/sender were one assembly outside the tank, so when it failed, just replace it.

It looks like both parts on my car failed (mine is an early '71)

If I could get a late model pickup/sender we could use that and just plug the bad part in the tank.

Confusing enough? It is for me!

No luck yet, Coz. It's driving me nuts. I can get the part from some of the vendors for +/- $400, but I just cant swing that right now All my cash is in my car right now.

So, I wait............

The X19 went the way of the dinosaur a long time ago too, are the parts available?

Yes, the parts are available, Dennis.

And, as far as the fuel pickup/sender goes, MUCH cheaper

A friend of mine owns Apple Motors in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and he has many Fiat and Lancia parts. If you need anything Fiat, he has it or will get it.

Coz, Les found them in Phoenix. I believe he was quoted about $40 bucks each.

For that Adam, buy an extra one for the future. I'd buy 1 for thast just to have, just in case.

Has anyone found a source for these yet. I called Dave at Apple Motors and he sold his last one to a Pantera owner.....Adam????

I should probably change mine while I have the engine and tank out....

John, I believe Les found a guy in Phoenix who had one. He was also talking to some guys around the US, so I am not sure which one he ended up buying through.

I will be talking to Les on Monday, I'll let you guys know then.

Do the vendors actually have one in stock, or is that old info?

Is the price of $400 accurate?

John, I apologize for not getting back to you about this. Things have been crazy with the car, and my work.

I don't know where Les got the part, but I do know that the fuel pickup for a 1974-1977 CARBURATED X19 is what will work w/ some minor modifications.

I will try and contact Les and see where he ended up finding one.

Also, I believe Coz might have found a source. I will ask him as well.

Chuck, I spoke with one of the vendors about 2-3 weeks ago about this....they quoted me $385 plus shipping. They DID have them in stock (not sure how many, though)

I found 2, bought them both. Selling 1 on e-bay and keeping the other one for a spare.
I may have located a couple more, will know in a few days. The X-1/9 type are getting hard to come by as well.
