I am looking for a good performance fuel pump(mechanical)to handle 450-500hp. Do I need to go with an electric pump set up? Any thoughts or suggestions?

A good quality std. mechanica pump will work up to around 400 rear wheel horsies.Somewhere around that level, the fuel-out-of-the-gas-tank line will prove too small to keep those hungry float bowls full, and you'll be forced to go electric. But if you're bucks-up or handy in the garage, and you have a '71-72 Pantera, you can add the '73-up fuel tank sender which has an integrated fuel-out port. Between the early welded-in-the tank pipe and the integrated late outlet, tee'd together, a mechanical pump will supply bodacious horsepower.
