About to purchase cleaning and sealing kit from Eastwood. The tank is in reasonably good shape but the top 7 to 8 inches is mildly rusted probably because the car has been sitting with only a small amt. of fuel.
If the kit from Eastwood is the best treatment what can be recommended to prevent the sealant from cloging the fuel collecting tube.
Is the tube removed prior to sealing, or is it somehow blocked off. Any suggestions on this topic would be welcomed. Also the drain plug is frozen and is now soaking in Kroil.Anyone has any first hand experience with removing the plug without damaging the soldered in plug base.

I recently sealed the inside of my fuel tank not for rust just preventive maintenance. I purchased a kit from POR. A great product that cost about $50.00.The kit comes with a cleaner for gum, rust, sludge etc, metal ready etch for any rust, sealer and a bottle of fuel preservative. The tank must be removed from the engine comp, compleatly disassembled and cleaned, this includes all pick-up and return tubes and sending unit. With the tank out of the car cleaned and compleatly dry turn the tank upside down and apply some heat with a industral heat gun(no open flame). That should do it after a couple of times using the penatration oil in between intervals. Apply Teflon tape or sealent on the plug when reinstalling it to prevent future problems. Good luck...
