I try to buy US made parts for my cars when ever possible. I will pay more for them.

This does not guaranty better quality. But in my own mind I still can not get happy with everything being "Made in China".

I guess this is hypocritical of me when I am talking about my Italian / American/ German/ French and ?? Pantera.

Maybe I should buy a Vette or a Viper .

So........... It is more US jobs lost.

And last I heard Mexico is not part of the USA.

But............If we are both around in about 30 years the USA may be part of Mexico or at least the South West will be part of Northern Mexico.

What about Mexifornia!

My old roommate is a plumber and we used to make fun of his trade. As a plumber, all you need to know is...crap flows down hill and payday is Friday.
Well, he now runs a small business that charges $63/hr + material. Mostly residential and light commercial. Do the math. 2000 working hours per year. Not bad for a stupid plumber, huh?
As far as workers go, I can tell you it's probably the same here in Toronto as it is in the US. Can't find anyone who works.
I work in many factories. 90% immagrants. They're the only ones that will work in factories. Most "Canadians" won't work in those conditions. Most want big money for no degree, diploma, trade or simple sweat.
I see big future problems here because of our increasing poor work ethic.

I do think this is *more* the problem. If we have no one willing to do the work, what's a company to do? Some of those labor jobs pay pretty well? But everyone wants to be a millionaire and would rather day trade.
There was an article in our paper on the predicted gaps in local skilled labor in the future. It seemed like some companies were trying to get creative to get folks. It may take that if they want the business to stay here.
Thats...Crap flows down hill, payday is on Friday AND keep your fingers out of your mouth! DOH... at $63.00 I should of been a Plumber!

Shoot I ran out to my garage to look at my NAPA hose thinking I could come back and tell you it was made in the US....but you know what I'm going to tell you...made in Mexico . I had heard that Gates make the NAPA hose and thats make sense now.

For those of you who don't live in Southern California...I feel like I a visitor sometimes...in some places I'm one of the few white guys(don't want to make this racist) and one of the few who speaks english. I was raised in So Cal and the changes in the last 20 years are very maddening!
Hey, Hey, Hey, whats all this about " not bad for a stupid plumber". Most of us call a plumber when the crap is flowing up hill, not down hill. And a plumber that knows what he is doing, knows that payday is Mon., Tues., Weds., Thurs., and Fri.. And by the way it is $85 per hour here in Az.
Alright actually I only do plumbing for swimming pools & spa's etc. and about the worse it gets is some kid loosing his diaper in the pool, or peeing in the pool.
One of the hardest problems that I have is finding good help that is willing to work. Most of my guys make good money, but they work 60-65 hours per week. Most young people are not willing to work that long or that hard and the problem is only to get worse!
I was be ing sarchastic when I called him "stupid"........

A doctor calls in a plumber for a leaky kitchen faucet. The plumber shows up and within 15 minutes, disassembles the faucet, pops in a new cartidge and fixes the leak.
The Doctor says "great job, how much?".
185 bucks says the plumber.
$185 dollars for 15 minutes work!!??? I'm a doctor and I don't make that kind of money!
The plumber replies..." Hey, I never made that kind of money either when I was a doctor. Pay up!"
Ok I drop a bomb and run and when I get back all I get is Plumber jokes ??? LOLOLOLOL The joke goes like this ... payday is on Thrusday, shit flows down hill, dont bite your nails and do this one cheap and I have another job for you !!! LOL

LF-TP 2511 OLA Brother ... all the Union Jokes dont bother me .. I was lets just say trained in boot camp ( Old School ) by my dad and Grandfather.

But the word on the street is " There will be in the next 5 - 10 years the largest labor shortage since WW2. "

Thats why they are not deporting the 13 million Immagrants.

I say if ya cant beat em join em .. I married a great young women from brazil and she is a lawyer there .. here she gets up every day and cleans houses .. some weeks she breaks 4 figures.

So what we gonna do fight a war and lose the battle.

Wow I'm way off GATES GREEN STRIPE HOSES ... sorry.
I grew up in the textile business. textiles moved south to get away from the unions and use the cheap labor. If the Mexicans had gotten here 20 years ago, they may have saved the industry. I watched a show about Ford, The plants in Mexico paid $3 a day compared to $12-14 an hour in Detroit. Can you blame them? NAPA carries a hose that is just as good too.
I had a gentleman apply for a job in Jan. who ran a large horizontal machining center in Flint Michigan, He machined VIPER engine blocks. He said 5 years ago there were over 50 machine shops in Flint. Now there are only two. He said that Chrysler had farmed most of the VIPER project to Mexico, cept for the powertrain. Guess we can all sell diapers to each other as service jobs. We need manufacturing jobs for this economy to survive.
