Larry, they similar sell clay bars almost everywhere (Autozone etc.). I use the one from Meguiars and found it does a great job. It's usually sold in a big box with a bottle of quick-detailer spray included (to use as a surface lunricant). LPB is right, it makes a huge difference.
I have always heard about this clay bar stuff, but just thought something such as this may be overkill and only good for a car with poor paint. But I picked up a Meguiars clay bar package the other day (2 clay bars, lube and microfiber) and decided to experiment on my wifes 1985 MBZ 300...ha ha, she don't know. Although the paint and finish looks excellent already, I did have a grit feeling while running my palm across the paint, and that is even after a good polishing and waxing. So I snuck outside and tried it on her car, and man this is like miracle stuff. Finish went from a gritty surface to baby butt smooth (or 18 y/o Asian massage parlor butt smooth some tell me). The clay bar was good size, about the size of a deck of cards. Just glide it over lightly with the lube and I finished the top surfaces in about 15 min, then wax. Here are a couple photos below. Of course photos don't really do justice regarding finish, but I tell ya the finish is like a mirror in seeing reflections.
