Global Cooling

Last night on Fox News ran a story that ALL the leading world wide temperature indicators indicated -----over the last year------the Earth COOLED. Not only did it cool but it cooled MORE than it WARMED in the last 100 YEARS!

Scientist believe the sun has switched gears and now global cooling may be a valid concern now!

The story has been swept under the carpet by mainstream Medea which I think is a story in itself.

I don't want to make anything of it but I thought it may be a rising story worth keeping eye out for!

I believe it is arrogant of mankind to think we have any impact on the climate of the planet when there is a mid-size STAR (865,000 miles in diameter) blasting its energy into the galaxy a relatively short distance away (average distance is 93 million miles). The light & heat from that star reaches the earth in 8 seconds.

The diameter of the sun is a little more than 100 times the diameter of the earth. The mass of the sun makes up more than 99% of the mass of everything in the solar system. The earth is a relatively insignificant speck locked into a rather close orbit of the sun.

Climatologists taking core samples from the ice caps announced their findings a decade ago; the earth has for the last several hundred years been in a pattern of historically mild weather. The normal weather patterns for the planet are more extreme: hotter high temperatures; cooler low temperatures; greater swings in temperature; larger, stronger, more violent storms; more severe droughts; more extensive flooding. The climatologists further announced all indications were that the period of mild global weather was at its end and the planet was returning to historically normal weather patterns.

Those findings were made about the same time that the environmental movement decided to make global warming a political issue, so the announcement of those findings were overshadowed by the debate over global warming.

A Mini Ice Age Theory .. as what took place in Europe couple hundred years ago ... and so another cycle begins on the great earth ... just like every other cycle ... people panic as if it couldnt be predicted ... I could have told you that ... in NY we have no Spring and Fall ..we go right into winter and then right into summer. Obviously something is changing in our little world and our little insignificant beings are a drop in the bucket to the rest of the universe.

Just think the world has had so many Ice Ages, and normal and tropical ages. Many have stated that we are in the middle of one of the normal "Ages"
Remember in the movie Day After Tomorrow, they showed the Mammoth that was found in Siberia in the 1920's?? Was frozen in place and and it still had its food frozen in it's mouth. I remember learning that in like the 3rd or 4th grade. My opinion FWIW. I think this planet has been in so called "Cold" cycles more than in the normal temps we all enjoy today.

I have always been amazed at how stable the temps are on the earth. Average temp is about 65 degrees. An increase of 1 or 2 degrees is not 1 / 65. While 65 degrees is 65 degrees Fahrenheit, 0 degrees Fahrenheit is still quite hot. In fact 0 is 459 degrees F above absolute zero so our average temp is 459 + 65 which is 524!!!!

524 degrees +/- 1 degree is unbelievable for a celestial body. For a rock in space orbiting another burning rock I would be happy with +/- 10!!!!

Yea, What's all this stuff about conspiracy theory; and the name calling too? Pretty soon some on this forum will sign up to melt down their gas hogging, emissions belching Panteras and trade the remains for a Hybrid something that gets 40 mpg. Wait, didn't that Rabbit diesel from 1982 get the same mpg?

comp2, I definitely feel your pain -- I'd rather talk about anything mechanical or the next best thing for a Pantera.

The original poster (OP) simply shared a news story he saw on network television. Some members have commented about the story, some have made it political.

Garth's comment about "peddlers of fear" was bound to raise eyebrows, although in his favor he did not identify who he considers to be the peddlers of fear.

Please don't make comments about one another. Stick to ideas, be respectful of each other's right to have differing views. If you're going to hurl insults at each other, if you're going to insinuate that others are idiots for holding opinions differing from yours, then YES, I shall lock this thread up. You guys are capable of being well behaved, I've seen you do it before.

Maybe I missed something ..I didnt hear him say anything about the Unions ... he spoke about the goverment .. of which I agree with him ... Global Warming was BS and the Politicians lied to all of us ..get over it ..because I did .. got in the Pantera today here in NY and hammered the hell out of it to put a little warm air back into the enviroment to prevent Global Cooling ..LOL

PS All the Politicians are full of S#$%.
