I went to NADA for their Book estimate on my 74 Pantera. They showed a Coupe and a Pantera II Grand Touring. What is that? Also, Is my 1974 Pantera an L? Are all 74s Ls? I am a bit confused on that point. Thanks, Wink
Grand touring probably refers to the GTS model, which for the US was an appearance package with flairs, clock, steering wheel and decals. '73-'74 is the L model which have the larger black bumpers and the single pod dash.
Model years are a general reference. Probably has more to do with vin#. I'm sure there is a lots of crossove due to the low producion. Probably had some dual pod dashes left over after they converted the bumpers.
In Europe, Grand Touring is 'GT' and simply means 'large engine sports car.' All Panteras and non-open-wheel Ferraris, Jaguars, Maseratis etc are GT cars. The Pantera 2 is the so-called 'new Pantera' built from 1990 to about 1992; maybe 20 built. Different body panels, different suspension, fuel-injected 302, etc
That is odd Jack because on NADA they show a 1974 Pantera II Grand Touring. I guess they are all mixed up on them. Have you ever checked out Carfax to check on a Pantera VIN? They tell you that it is a bad number because all VINs hace 13 digets. They must be talking about US VINs eh?

Actually my 1971 US spec Pantera only has 11 digits and I ran into trouble with the bank until I reminded the guy that there were a lot fewer cars on the road in 1971.
