Greetings. I am Dave in Huntington Beach. I bought my yellow '72 from Jerry at PI Motorsports back in October.

Like a typical O.C. gal, she has a nice body, but a few "issues" under the bonnet Big Grin . A great car and a fun project! I show up at the Donut Shop and Cars and Coffee every now and then. Hope to see some of you there. A couple of pix:

Thanks everyone.

The issues are the things you find when digging into a new old car. Most significant is a 2nd gear synchro problem, but I knew that going into the project. Motor has a bit of a lifter tick. Some dodgy wiring repairs the previous owners did, that I am now sorting out.

It is my afternoon hobby project. I've already replaced the carpets, installed BMW mirrors, changed to euro tail lights, put on an IPSCo rear sway bar bracket / logo plate, swapped out the ammeter with a VDO volt meter.

Now working on the Retrosound stereo and putting in some Porsche seats. Will probably yank the drivetrain out over Christmas and have the engine and trans issues taken care of. In other words, lots of fun!
Dave....welcome to the forum. I love the yellow and the overall great look of your car. One of my projects is to paint my 72L that is factory orange...your yellow really grabs me! WOW. Like Adam and Jim said "it looks right".

I notice you are in Huntington...we're neighbors. I'm in Seal Beach...when can I come take a peak at your car and compare notes?

Very nice car. The solid yellow color looks great.

Do you happen to have any pics of the BMW mirrors on the car? Thanks.

Those are the mirrors that are in the pictures above. Aftermarket 95-99 M3. There is some fabrication required to fit like grinding off the mounting bosses and epoxy squeeze to fine tune the contour. They are two piece design, so the flag can be black and the mirror can be body color like I have done. The angle of the flag is not exact, but a strip of weatherstrip fills it in nicely.

The yellow is a Ferrari color - giallo modena.

I'm home most weekends tinkering in the garage. PM me for coordination.
