My grand daughter ... Emilly and I

At Jalama Beach, Santa Barbara County, California ... July 30th.

She requested a camping trip at Jalama Beach for her 8th birthday. We had a great time, she learned how to "Boogie Board!" She's a great swimmer (she's had lessons at the YMCA), she's not afraid of the waves at all.

Jalama has been "discovered" by more people, its not the "undiscovered" place it once was, but its still a helluva nice place to chill out and relax, and a nice place to share with Emilly. Its also a nice destination for sports cars & motorcycles ... hint hint. The access road from Hwy 1 is a very twisty drive through an oak forest and rolling hills. But keep your radar detector on. Bring a friend, pack folding lounge chairs in your Pantera's trunk, and make sure to have Jalama burgers for lunch.

I love Jalama Beach, and of course Jalama Burgers! I used to live in Lompoc and camp there regularly.

Lyall - When were you at UCSB? I used to live on DP, as well as Sabado and a few other streets during my time in IV. I used baby oil and/or BBQ lighter fluid to remove the tar (whatever we had available).
