the rivets on the flares on my 72 euro gts are covered over with bondo (or equivalent) - not having done any body work before, what would be the process of "redoing" this so that the rivets show? - and yes, i know that the answer is "take it off" - but with what product? masked off how? - painted rivets or bare? - rematch color how? - etc. - thanks, stephen

Are the flares smoothed out into the body fender as well? If so this is going to be a major task, involving repainting at least all the fenders, if not the car.

If someone has only filled the rivet heads/holes on the flares then the task is a little easier, but still a lot of work. You may want to consider just buying a new set of flares, I think the GTS ones sell for about $300 a set.
Hi Julian - it's me...your TX friend to whom you sent the wiper gear.

Unfortunately it is the former - that is, the flares have been completely integrated into the body - with new ones, wouldn't i have the same issue - that is, not only getting down to the rivets, but then popping them off and installing the new ones??

i think stock GTS flares are fiberglass - so presumably you tape of but for maybe a 3" [??] section and put some airplane stripper or the like - scrape all the junk off, prime and paint?? - thanks, stephen
