Can someone answer this for me? In a plan view, (top view), are the half shafts on a zf-1 transaxle 90 degrees to the wheels. I had a new tube frame built for my car and I noticed that my half shafts, in a plan view, are not 90 degrees. The center lines on my transaxle, where the half shafts plug in, are about an inch rear-ward of the centerline of my wheels.

That orientation should not cause any issues.

Actually, u-joints NEED some mis-match to properly function.

The angle of the u-joints is greatly increased with big block engine swaps, but the stock u-joint assemblies have proven acceptable.

Although I have recently heard there are some who now feel the big block angle is too much and CV joints are perhaps a better solution.

Again, your 1" mis-match should be just fine.
