My pushbutton was featured in the 1970's Hawaii 5-0 episode "Death Wish on Tantalus Mountain" which guest starred Ricardo Montalban. A couple of years ago, the car was featured in an online sportscar magazine called the "Automotive Traveler" in an article which covered the revival of Hawaii 5-0 when the DVD's were released. I received the following email from the editor which has the links to his magazine and the article. In case there are any Hawaii 5-0 fans out there, the series is being revived. They have already started making plans, the actors and roles have been selected. It's a free on line magazine, enjoy.

Dennis,

My name is Rich Truesdell and I am the Editorial Director of the website automotivetraveler.com. Three years ago we produced a magazine feature entitled "In Search of Steve McGarrett" where I believe your car was featured prominently.

Here's a link to the article.

And in the article the author, a Pantera owner himself, Scott Mead, interviewed George Fraine about his involvement with the Pantera and Hawaii 5-O. Here's a link to the sidebar.

On automotivetraveler.com we have a regular department called "Not Found on eBay" where we showcase cars for sale that interest us and while your car is on eBay, we would love to feature it on our website. To do so we need high-res photos of the car and between what we have on file on the car plus your eBay ad, we can make an excellent presentation on your car, similar to this.

In less than three weeks, that post generated more than 12,000 page views, many of them from Europe where autoblog.nl in the Netherlands picked up the item as they scan automotivetraveler.com on a regular basis.

So I guess that the 5-0 pushbutton will be featured again in Automotive Traveller, this time in their classifieds

I was thinking more on the lines that they do a new episode where Montalban's crazy son is released from the mental institution where he was been imprisoned for the past 30 years and takes up racing his father's old Pantera on Tantalus in honor of his now dead father. The mystery thickens when someone now tries to kill him by sabotaging his car as he did to his father 30 years ago.

They pay me a large car usage fee and we all live happily ever after! Actually the original owner of my car paid off his car with the money paid to him as Montalban's stunt double and for the car usage fees.

1365 had changes after the 5-0 episode. If you look in the show, the car had 2 slot campys. Apparently the newer 2 slots were the hot item after the 1 slots and more desirable. The original owner had 2 slots during the show but put the original 1 slots back on. The car was repainted with the era popular two tone separated by the pinstripe. Also added were the nerf bar and the hibachi hood vents.

One of the interesting things that the original owner told me was that during the filming, the rear deck lid was removed and they built a platform for the camera man to sit on in the engine bay. They anchored him down with ropes and he filmed from back there. So much for OSHA back then!
