Ford still sells these; they are sheet metal and appear to be ungalvanized steel. Just another reason to change ainti-freeze each year as the anti-corrosion additives are used up. Some owners and maybe a vendor or two makes up a stainless steel pipe with a slightly tapered end that pounds into the untheaded block opening. I've also seen the block tapped to a pipe thread & a brass hose nipple screwed in. To remove the stock unit, simply grab it with a vice-grips (the flimsy thing will collapse; thats fine) and pry against the pliers with a crowbar.
