So here's the situation. My dad owns an awesome 73-yellow, some mods, awesome reliable driver.
Right now I own a 01 mustang GT supercharged. I also have a cherry 61 Falcon that I will be selling. Anyways...

I am looking to find me a Pantera to compete with my father. I am familiar with the cars, but not familiar. I'm sure you know what I mean. I've heard common items and necessary upgrades such as cooling upgrade and fan upgrade etc. However I know nothing about what each entails. I'm looking to learn as much as I can from this here site.

What kind of things should I look for when checking out cars? I'm looking for something to put a little work into, not looking for a concourse car. I want a good respectable reliable driver that'll handle occasional driving and trips to vegas, and we all know what Vegas will entail

So what are some tips when searching? Anyhting I should be leary of? Anything that's a definate plus? Where are some good places to search for cars? Anyone have any leads on cars? I appreciate it guys. Thanks

A trustworthy driveable Pantera will probably cost around $25000, plus or minus. The two most important areas to check out are the transaxle and the body. Worn synchros in the tranny are expensive to fix while rust in the body/chassis is difficult AND expensive to fix. If this is OK so far, I suggest you join a Pantera club or two, and when you find a likely car, one of your new buddys (with no strings attached) will go with you and check it out. Experience counts.
hi tim,

be sure to sign up to the pantera digest. i lurked there about a year & a half before i finally got my pantera. *excellent* info resource... also, let 'em know yure in the market. get yer dad to sign up, too! ;~)

there's many small differences between early & late cars ("L" & "pre-L"); some of the early "L"'s have a few pre-L features, etc. some cars have wings/flares, some don't. hang out on the pantera digest a while, ask a few questions, & soon yule know which variety best suits ya.

ps - jack is correct about what ewe can expect to get for ~$25k - a nice driver; and that rust & the zf are the two most expensive tings to fix...
