Is there a vendor that sells original look hoses? I am interested in finding hoses that connect the gas tank to the charcoal filter and the vacuum hose from the brake system to the manifold. The ones on my early 1971 are rubber with what looks like thread like netting on the exterior. I called Hall and they knew what I was talking about but they did not carry that type of hose.

I found that fabric braided hose at a local BAP store. That kind of hose is used in lots of foreign cars including the old VW Beetle. They carry rolls of the stuff from 4mm hose to 17mm hose. I suspect that any parts store that specializes in foreign cars will have it. -Steve
Make sure you have a good ground on your engine to the "frame" I have had 2 stainless hoses get little tiny pinholes with burn marks where the engine tried to ground through the clutchline. I wound up adding a seperate ground strap at the block to where the cross member bolts in place. For some reason the ground strap that goes from the transmission to the "frame" wasn't doing it.

Wow, great tip. Have others had this happen? I have some ground straps and will follow your advice as a precaution. Wonder how prevalent this is.
