Question for you HVAC Experts,
I am in the middle of adding an HVAC system in my garage. Since I am a do-it-yourselfer, I have done most of the install myself.
My question is this, At what point do I need to call in a professional to finish the install or can I do the whole thing myself.
For example: I have run the new lineset but haven't soldered the connections to the evaporator or condenser yet. I have soldered copper joints before when doing home plumbing. Is it the same process? I saw a video recently that said it wasn't.
Next step, pressurize with nitrogen and test for leaks. Not sure I could do that without special equipment.
Evacuate system: I am pretty sure I cannot accomplish this step without a $300+ vacuum pump. A service call to connect the condenser should be less than the cost of a vacuum pump, right?
So again, where do I stop and call in a professional?
Thanks, Scott
