Everybody has a car that they remember from their younger days. Wether it was a car they had a long time ago, or maybe their neighbor had one, or maybe they just saw it in a magazine. Thats the little bit of car guy in all of us. My wife used to get a ride to school in a 1969 GTO convertibe. I saw the Pantera ad in Car & Driver. We have been extremely lucky and we now own both.
I KNOW a chevy commercial when I see one. Now let's be real. What are the odds that daddy's old car is still in one piece after 40 years? The one he had to sell in the 80's when it was worth about $2500, then, how do you track a car across the northern hemisphere? Then after you find it it looks like it did 40 years ago, and YOU get to buy it back? If I was the Canadian that owned it... it would have cost GM $150K to but it back for the commercial. I'm sure it warms a lot of hearts, but it is just a chevy commercial, made for the internet. I don't believe it really happened. It is a GM marketing campaign, and they have your tax money, so that is unlimited funds. Sorry, I have a heart, just not for BS.. Bill 1362

Whoa Bill, quit snorting gunpowder! Its a good story, hits the 'car guy' roots in us all, that should be enough.

Stranger things have happened.

So WWF was real on TV too, right? This ad campaign was made up by Mad Men in NYC -- you know, where they don't make Pace Picante sauce.... Madison Avenue baby. If it warms your heart, you're not jaded enough; like me.

So what if it whas a fairy tale , it was nicely done. I have bought my wifes car back , an mgf 3 years later, and only when whe got there whe noticed it was her old car. It had a new exhaust new battery, new tires and a small respray where she hit the sidewalk before whe sold it. In those 3 years it had done 5000 km. Best part was whe payed nearly half the price for what whe sold it for. So mayby fairy tales do exist

I really had to see it a couple of times, before I saw through it, It IS a nice story. But don't you just wonder what your being SPOON FED these days. I AM a skeptic. Remember I invested my money with Bernie Madoff, then sent my son to Penn State. Jim Coyne probably got closer to the facts, of a polished story. You don't want to get me started on the Insurance industry or Ethonol.. Red Face
That is a good story. I don't care who conspired to make it happen. They don't seem to be actors, so all I care about is the old guy getting his car back.

My dad built me a kick-ass 65 El Camino that was my first car. I sold it back when I was in my early 20s and I am trying to track it down now. Not for him, but for me. He died last year and I am trying to get that part of my life back.
Nice story... Fact or not Nice story.
A True story, I bought my 1999 Mustang GT from a Ford dealer in CT who had a picture of his red 1968 Shelby GT500 fastback on his desk. I told him that I had the opportunity to buy a baby blue one from my friend Chris in 1977 but my dad would not sign for the loan since I had 3 cars already... he told me that was the car he knew Chris also and the car was baby blue... Ahhh the one that got away!!
