Internally Regulated Alternator

I put in a internally regulated alternator and a regulator that is modified for the difference. It was in one of the forums. Now I do not see the gauge move at all. This was to be the Project of the Day. I was about to start checking wires put I do not have a diagram of the internals of the "Modified" regulator. Anyone been there?

I did an internal regulator alternator from a newer ford and did not loose the alternator light. Just jumpered wires at the regulator connector and hooked up all three wires from the old alternator. One terminal is the voltage sense that goes to the battery and the other is the gen light.

Why would the old external regulator still be needed if there is a regulator in the new alternator? I put an internally regulated alternator from a late model Mustang in my Pantera and (if I remember correctly), only hooked up the field wire (fat one) and another wire from the harness. That was it. Both the gauge and the light work as they should.
