Hello all .... my name is Ken and I've been a car nut all my life. I started with a TR3, then a couple of E-types, an Alfa, three Ferraris, a C6 ZO6 and a 911 (997). And thirteen motorcycles. But I always lusted after a Pantera after a friend who had one let me drive his about 30 years ago.
I was lucky to be an automotive design and test engineer for my career and did most all my own mechanical work on my cars, so the odd bit of wrenching comes naturally.
Now I'm retired and looking to acquire a '71-73 Pantera. I would prefer one that's had the rust repair taken care of (I'm not a body guy and my welding skills are just plain scary). I like the concept of a Pantera because it has the engine I grew up with and is mechanically very similar to my 308's as far as suspension and other bits on the car. And I love the sound! I'd like something reasonably well sorted, but something I can tinker with a bit as well.
I live up in the boondocks of northern California (Eureka) so I'm going to have to travel to one of the POCA chapter meetings in Sacramento or the SFO area to broaden my exposure to the cars, but that's OK. Benefit of being retired.
I've been working my way through the posts on this site as well, and am favorably impressed with the friendliness and support I see (can't say that about all car forums, unfortunately). Although, even the Corvette and Porsche guys pay tribute to Pantera in their posts.
Looking forward to spending time with you folks and learning more before I make the plunge.
Ken
