Here's an attempt at a Pantera from last year I think ...
How about the Rain Gutter Regatta. We changed the mast using a magnesium tig rod reducing the mast weight. this kept him up-right and sailing straight to the winners circle. But come to find out you could build a catamaran so there was no contest on the final races. He did win best design and gained a big smile.

Year 3's car takes on it's initial markings under the watchful eyes of cars 1 and 2.
An interesting note:all of the PD wheels are numbered - visible on the back of the wheels - with the newer wheels like #10s and #14s already round and smooth, with no molding dot marks on the tread surface...That work's already done !
More to follow as it moves through it's build...
(BTW speedlimit170 you have a PM)

Kirk,
Nice effect with the smoke coming out of the barrel. We're you shooting at the other cakes?

No live rounds in the venue---darn---Alex wanted to do something with Sponge Bob. Maybe we should have done something like the picture below---next time.
Everyone had a great time and the boys loved the smoke. I had to re-charge the dry ice 4 times. Well worth the effort to see the smiles.

Finally, derby time this weekend.
The Pantera did not work out so well with the wheelbase issues and no modifications.
Second choice was Bumblebee.
First time building a derby car.

It's finally Derby time for northern California this weekend as well, with jr. upgrading to this Indy entry and repeating his last year's gold color, and sr. entering his first Derby with a silver funny car in this Sunday's competition.
