Well, it was our annual Italian week here, and what was planned as a great gathering of DeTomasos from Ottawa, Montreal and Ajax (near Toronto) sort of fizzled out when the chance of rain went from 30% to 90% the night before. Nobody was all that keen to do a long drive in the rain and I decided at the last minute that since there was only going to be a few mm of rain (so I was told...) we would head down to our little Italy to see who showed up this year.

As it was the event's 30th anniversary, there were amazing cars everywhere. An entire parking lot was dedicated to Fiat 500 and other Italian micro-cars (including three new 500s on display). Separate parking lots contained some cool race cars, the Ferraris and more. Some special cars were brought in from far afield and charities benefited from rides for donations in them and many of the Ferraris. Of course, just as the official Italian car parade was about to start, the heavens opened up and the rain poured for the entire parade. Fortunately the die-hard fans lined the streets under umbrellas and canopies and enjoyed the sights. As soon as the parade laps were over the owners were all treated to a nice Italian lunch courtesy of Frank's Garage, the local Italian repair shop. All-in-all it was a fun time.

No, unfortunately. They had a sticker that said TR or FR or something like that. I've sent Joe an e-mail and will let you know what he says. I know they were on the car when he got it a year or so back, so he may not know where they come from, but hopefully can confirm the make.

I thought I saw you there, but you looked a lot shorter and had an afro, so I wasn't sure. Big Grin

Don't worry, you can get your fill of rain again in Kingston!

The new fiats had Quebec dealer plates on them, and has sunshield "Fiat Alfa Romeo Quebec". Drivers had very nice 1st rate FIAT racing shirts. Last year there was a blog that since the Fiat/Chrysler alliance the return of the 500 was eminent. Ford has announced the new arrival of the 2011 Fiesta, so either Fiat is doing market research or they are on the verge of launching here. Quebec and BC have always been very strong on micro cars and Quebequers have a long affection with Fiat, so no real surprise there.
