Sorry, I will not provide my real location/identity on the Internet.

DannyOcean, eh? We need to figure this guy out. Methinks we're being "Shang Hai'd," if you get my meaning!

So far he has mentioned Texas and California in posts. And his posts seem to come at normal USA times. DannyOcean, sounds sort of like a Miami or maybe Las Vegas kinda name. We've seen his garage and it looks old and like something you'd find in the Eastern US or Midwest, central Pennsylvania I'd say.

DannyO, help us out here.

Or maybe he's just an old guy like a lot of us...

All things being equal, Frank Sinatra would bitch-slap George Clooney for attempting to imitate him. And, I'm pretty sure Frank did the "wild monkey dance" with George's mom, Rosemary...
Larry, owned is a term used by young people. It means they can kick your ass at will. I only know that cause I hang with the homies on on-line video games.
Schooling someone is beating them in a game. You could say if you won a drag race by ten car lenghts, that you schooled them. Word is another saying, kinda like amen brother.
I should write a dictonary. Wink

Close, Gramps. "Owned" has nothing to do with violence...

From Wikipedia..."Owned" (often typed in leet speak among gamers) is an internet slang word used commonly in gaming circles to acknowledge a form of superiority through the downfall of another entity, be it another gaming clan, or a single user. This can be in the context of winning an online game, a debate on a forum, or attaining a successful hacking, as well as the signature to a rebuttal, such as "You got owned!" to announce the defeat of another user on the internet in the form of a debate or flame war. It signifies screwing up and humiliation, often through the dominance or superiority of another party. Usually, the term is used to express dominance in a negative sense, proclaiming better skill than the opponent for purposes of killing them on-line. "Owned" can be used as both a verb (to "own") and noun ("ownage").

Ownage has recently spread beyond the gaming community into standard slang, where it ususually means severe defeat (eg when a person in an argument is so soundly beaten they are lost for words) or when someone is injured/defeated/etc in an amusing way. The term "own" may also refer to "coolness".

That VW has TWO rear-mounted picnic tables Wink

The 914 is the only Porsche that VW had a hand in. Two totally different companies...but then again, you already knew that... Roll Eyes

That "picnic table" is a combo spoiler/intake (for the twin turbos/intercooler)...top wing (carbon fiber) is adjustable for down-force). Rest of the wing is fiberglas...Here's a GT2 against an F40... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNBwQ2Bv0Tc

Wanna race?

Not by a long shot. You've heard of the 904 in which the Weissach wind tunnel testing was done; the 356 engine, the 912, 912E, K-jetronic development, balance shaft 944 (joint development VW-Audi and Mitsubishi) 928 4.5, Carroserie Karmann and I'm going out on a limb here to assume your intimate knowledge of the Porsche-Piech familiies.

You certainly were there when they re-apportioned nepotism management in 1970, then again in 1976, then made a take over bid in 1990 (C2 era). You were at the board meeting two months ago when Porsche AG bid for a VW stake that COULD reunite a new set of "4-rings" (look it up) with a 29.9% interest that turns the VW-Porsche tables if Dr. Wiedeking gets his way.

The depths of confluence between these companies goes far, far beyond the singular development of a somewhat ill-fated vehicle with commercial success that shared a marketing skin in a small but influential portion of the global target.

Then again, you already knew that.

Anonymity has it's place. You've no idea whom you're addressing. Interesting - I already knew that.
I can't believe the thoughts that go through my head when an obnoxious person acts under the cloak of anonymity. It's amazing.

I wonder if this person is acting this way to protect thier computer time as a guest at a Federal penatentiary, or thier identity while in the witness relocation program.

Then I think no. Maybe there are more immediate issues like they are a transvestite cross dresser in a very blue collar neighborhood and have severe anger issues?

All very disturbing thoughts.

Then maybe there is something that has happened that was beyond thier control and have difficulty in dealing with.

Perhaps they were part of the Presidents staff in the Nixon Watergate scandal and were a scapegoat. Maybe they were one of the twelve Boys From Brazil. Those are tough raps and should recieve some human compassion for something they weren't responsible for.

Then I think maybe they are just a fifteen year old that has developed a dependency on opiates?
Or a late night TV host that has had thier show cancelled?

Ah, I know what it is. It isn't that they are anonymous, it is that they are abusive under the cloak of anonymity.

Ah, now I feel better. I worked out my problem.

Thanks all. I feel better now.
Thanks for reminding me of the other "non" VW-Porsche connection with the Touareg/Cayenne. (My chronology roll didn't bring me current enough!)

But I guess all these connections are figments of our imagination since Danny has 'schooled us' referencing a book written in 1977. Danny, come back when you get your license. On second thought...

True idiocy resists counsel.

Hey...someone here called me out, mo-mo. I was happily minding my own business on the forum learning about my new Pantera when all of a sudden I see my name in "lights". Let a sleeping dog lay, right?
I am not exactly sure where this turned from jest to hostility but Im not sure this is where it should be going. Forgive me if I have missed something that justifies this. I have seen many threads in the past like this and everyone gets all worked up with no positive affect. If DannyOcean is a problem to this forum so be it but if he is another Pantera owner Im sure shunning him is not wise nor adult. Once people are provoked things are said that maybe are not meant or understood and quickly snowball. I was of the understanding we were all adults here and could handle things with respect, not snide understatements. I do not know DannyOcean but I do agree that it was not he that started this thread. Once again forgive me if I have missed something.

Well said. Thank you. It appears some on this board are offended by my right to privacy. That's my only "crime" as far as I can see.

Best regards,

If you check the times/dates on that post, you'll notice my comments were added after I was unecessarily provoked in this thread by the "elitist" mo-mo's. I can dish it out, too.
I wouldnt call that a very good excuse but it is true. Like I said people say things when they are provoked that they likely would have kept to themselves otherwise. We all are entitled to opinions as well as privacy if one so chooses. However discretion is a key point of adulthood. This goes for everyone. I sometimes go to other forums and laugh at the childish posts and ranting. This is not the kind of attitude I want to see when I come to hang out with friends. We are all adults here.

Right or wrong, I tend to lower my maturity level to match those I am dealing with. That seems to be the only way they understand.

Anyway...this has been beaten to death. Thanks for understanding.

Best regards,

D. Ocean
