Last year's Vegas event

The track event is not a timed event and is actually called "Speed trials". this is probably for insurance purposes. I'm sure that some of the actual race cars may have had some type of timing set up to record lap times, but the event itself did not post or keep timing. And yes it was at Spring Mountain.

Ran short track last year, This year we will again be on the short track because of cost.

They gave me a transponder to put in my car. It tracked my times automatically and they where posted after each session. Awesome.

Too bad we won't be running the long track, it is a great track.

I am thinking about joining, but then I would have to buy a race car!

Indeed. I wanted to upgrade our PCNC event to the long track for 2008, but SMMR (starting 2008) will not rent that course to anyone. It is now only for their Club Spring Mountain members, as an incentive for membership.

I have begged, smiled, and pleaded for the long course to no avail.

As for timing, Keven (Rapid) is correct. We do NOT run a RACE. We call it a Speed Trial. Our intent is to get owners to get their car onto a track in the safest possible setting.

Their are many opportunities for racing your car if that is your choice. The annual Fun Rally, where so many cars are in attendance, is the perfect place to entice owners to join in our event.

Driving for two days on a closed, one way, no signal lights, no minivans, no drunks, no trees-poles-curbs road course is MUCH safer than the drive to and from Vegas.
