Those of you who aren't going to 'Vegas, I'll miss seeing 'ya. I didn't finish 6018 in time, but the cooling system is looking good. So I'm going in the Taurus just to hang out, meet as many owners as I can, try to remember names, faces and cars. Someday I hope to know everyone of you and your cars.

Thanks to the kind offer of John Taphorn, we're sponsoring a poker run Thursday evening, and between my photographer and I, we hope to take a lot of pictures.

Hold down the place 'till the rest of us get back. Wish you could all be there.

fondly, George

Gotta feeling it's going to be kind of quiet here on the BB while a lot of you are whooping it up in Vegas. About 10 years ago (before I owned my P-car) my wife & I were attending a business convention in Vegas. In between meetings we'd ride the trollys up & down the strip taking in the sites. Well, one of the afternoons I spotted about 6 Panteras at various spots along the strip & was excitedly pointing them out to the wife - don't generally see that many Panteras in Kansas in 20 years. Finally decided that there must have been some type of get together going on close in order to see that many in one place at one time. Didn't have time to try & find out what was going on but I made it clear to wifey that a P-car was definitely in my future! Of course, once I bought my car & joined the clubs I realize that we were there during the week of the Fun Rally. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to attend one since I got my car but I still hold hope of making it one of these years & meeting all you good folks. Hope everyone there this year has a great time & zero mechanical problems(!!) & don't forget to overwhelm us with pictures! Everybody take care.
Yup, the DT Mail List seems to have gone pretty quite too. The only Pantera Fun Rally I attended in Vegas was BEFORE I owned my Pantera. A fellow club member convinced me I needed to go because there were always quality cars for sale at the Vegas event. I made an offer on a 72 Pantera that needed some work on a Friday, which was turned down. So then I called the airlines and booked a 1-way flight to Vegas for 7:00am Saturday morning. The event coincided with Spring Break, so the earliest I could get a flight home was the following Thursday. I went on faith, picked up my rental car, met up with new friends at the Orleans (?) and strolled Fremont Street show. Within 10 minutes of arriving on Fremont Street I found the only 2 club members I knew up to that point (Mike Drew and Chuck Melton) who hooked me up with fellow PCNC members who had vacant passenger seats so I could get a ride home in a Pantera. This was turning out to be a great trip! I didn't stick around Vegas too long though. I left by 11:00am and drove to Phoenix to look at Bill Basore's Maroon 71 Pantera with a flat decklid, which was for sale at the time. I had a great time getting to know Bill and his family, and arrived back in Vegas at about 3:30am Sunday morning. I tooka nap in a truck stop parking lot, returned my retnal car, and hooked up with the Pantera crowd at 8:00 to begin the drive home. The long-distance seat time in two different Panteras on the drive home left me absolutely convinced that a Pantera was the right car! Anyway, I haven't been back to Vegas since I've owned my Pantera, but hope to make it next year.

Here's a clip from 2002, for those of us who aren't there this year:

I just got back from Vegas. My first time ever in 30+ years of ownership. All I can say is, "I'm speechless!"

Best of all was meeting all the people that I've met here and on the POCA email list. Especially George, Coz, Julian, Larry, etc. BTW, Larry's track event was great!

Time to start planning for next year. I am definitely going to drive 6559. And I'm going to take it on the track, C group obviously.
