Lighter?

What year is your car? In 74 they were in the center of the console between the firewall and the ashtray.

It is a 74 but no lighter anywhere. Just behind the ashtray there is a raised light about the size of a quarter in width and raised ablut 3/4". It comes on for a sec when the ignition is on and goes out when the car starts.
I am not sure why that is there either! lol

That is where your lighter was, the previous owner must have put some type of light there.

I'll 2nd Gary's location for the lighter. Sounds like a previous owner did away with it for some reason.

Sometimes the power socket (lighter) is relocated due to the stock location.
More than one car has caught fire when an
elbow engages the lighter. It gets stuck in place. Burned interior parts were at the last swap meet, the cause was the lighter.

Yes Chuck, they relocated it alright. Right out of the car! No matter cause I don't smoke anyway.

Hi Mike! If you want one that bad? Mine's for sale. Socket, Plunger, Knob, even the Light assembly and bulb! Fine condition, Center wire shows signs of intense heat (as one would expect) $45. And I'll pay the shipping. (Just the SOCKET is on ebay and he wants $50. for it) I don't smoke either, and I wire my devices direct! And it IS a horrendice Fire Hazzard!! Marlin. No thanks Marlin. Like it the way it is. Would have only used it for a portable airpump anyway. I can rewire the pump with cloips for the batt if needed.Appreciaye the offer though. Mike
